A Message From Jay

jay_miron

I have some pretty big news to announce. I have sold MacNeil Bikes, and Ten Pack Distribution to my business partners Darcy Saccucci and Jamie McIntosh who’ll continue to run them like normal. I’ve also shut down Metro Events. After spending my entire life either on a bike, or working in the bike business I’m walking away from it.

While it’s pretty scary leaving it all behind, I’m super excited for the new life that lies ahead. I haven’t yet decided what that life will be. I’m going to take a while to relax and see what comes up.

I want to thank everyone whom I’ve ridden with, partied with, and worked with over the years. I especially want to thank Darcy, Jamie and everyone else that’s worked with me at MacNeil and Ten Pack. It’s been amazing!

    The end of an era.

I am your age, and traded in my BMX for an MTB years ago. But I remember when you broke onto the scene–I was so stoked to know that a Canadian kid could make it in the sport, which at the time, was dominated by Yanks.

Enjoy your time off and your next adventure–whatever that may be.

Jay deserves to be in the Canadian Sports hall of fame. He has done more for BMX in Canada than anyone else could. Not to mention what he’s done for the sport internationally. Look it up(Canadian sports hall of fame nominees), Jay qualifies.
In the early 90′s we couldn’t even get any decent bike parts in canada, especially not from a rider owned company. We had to order it from the U.S. and wait for it to get cleared through customs. It sucked. Without duct tape I don’t know what I would have done.
Bottom line, Jay Miron is the biggest Canadian BMX Legend. E V E R !

I am from the states originally. Live now in Germany for close to 10 years. I am 36 and do still ride but… exactly like it said on the come up. I have taken it easy – so to speak – and even still have had more broken bones then anyone would care to think of and can say from personal experiance what it means to have that kind of medical record. To top it off I can count on just about one hand the number of people even over 30 that are still riding in the Ruhr Area where i now live. I wish you all the best (even though this is a little late) and i really wish that for those of you out there that seam to not appreciate what this man has achieved would show enough repect to not hate. I would like to know if any of you that want to hate have done anything for the sport yourselves. This man started up a distribution company. At the same time a Bike company and if that was not enough threw in Metro Jam Contest Series to top it off. Most people in the bussiness have enough on thier hands just doing one of the 3. Thanks for all that you have done Jay – and dont let the Haters get at ya! All the best in the years to come.

    Zakk
